I heard recently the latest entries from 4 groups/artists mentioned on the Expecting Rain Bob Dylan Discussion Community. Mind you there are hundreds mentioned, but I chose just four.
1. Pearl Jam (lightening bolt)
2. Nick Cave. (push the sky away)
3. Bruce Springsteen (high hopes)
4. The National (trouble will find me)
I re listened to each of the songs I liked from each album.
Without doubt, the album I have taken the most fondness towards is the Nationals. A group I had never heard before. The first three artists/groups I have grown up with and have enjoyed nearly all my adult life, but The National songs are currently on my replay list more than any others.
There is something cool about the sincerity of voice and soulful melody in the The Nationals. The lyrics aren’t A1 but they fit the mood of a ‘young lovers ideal’.
PS I enjoyed Nick Cave’s album a lot too.
I think ‘I need my Girl’ sums that up pretty well and also how much I miss my daughter, Johanna:
