‘Nebraska’ and ‘Paris, Texas ‘

Do not read ahead if you haven’t seen the movie! SPOILERS

The performances in ‘Nebraska’ were great, but something about the almost Hollywood induced vengeful ‘hitting’ scene didn’t seem conducive with the son’s persona and quite frankly left a poor taste in my mouth. The redemptive pro father scenes (buy him the stuff he wants) also seemed off kilter for me. Basically, the storyline in the last 20 minutes didn’t do it for me. Otherwise Nebraska is a  very good movie. Cinematography was 1st class and the soundtrack was excellent. It kinda reminded me of the eery, but unforgettable Ry Cooder ‘Paris Texas’ soundtrack.

The movies, ‘Nebraska’ and ‘Paris, Texas’ aren’t dissimilar movies, in fact you could write a thesis on their theme connections, but Paris Texas is the better movie, because it didn’t have the fluff at the end. It just felt right.
