This is an extraordinary move coming from an artist that has been fiercely fighting bootleggers for most of his life and rigorously taking down videos on youtube.
Talk about having Dylan at your fingertips. No longer do we have to search Dylan on you tube only to find shitty covers of his songs. Even his official bootleg releases are on there.
Someone pinch me in case I’m dreamin’. It must be Santa!
WOW… I don’t post as many Dylan songs because I could not find a suitable video…I had to post someone’s homemade SpongeBob video to All Along The Watch Tower… I have to wonder what happened for him to do this?… but why question it.
Some have said it is to coincide with the upcoming Scorsese documentary on the Rolling Thunder Revue.
He likes surprising people… Yea that sounds as good of a reason as any other…The Stones have done it and The Beatles are on there more now.
I have to admit I never thought he’d do this. So yes it is very surprising and fantastic for new people dipping their toes into his music. Wouldn’t it hurt his sales and royalties though?
Google very well could have paid him…probably did with advertising money…plus it was probably costing him to pay legal aides taking all of those posts down.
If I was him…I would not want youngsters to listen to crappy covers of my songs.
You make excellent points Bad. I hadn’t considered the potential advertising revenue and possible offer from Google. Also you hit the ball outta the park with your last point.
It could very well be for the movie also…I’m excited about the movie…
Also I’m excited about Let It Be being worked on by Peter Jackson…two films to be looking forward to.
Although I was never a big fan of the Beatles, (I’m more a Post Beatles solo stuff guy) I too would like to see ‘Let it Be’. I did see the 8 hour anthology of the Beatles which had some good moments.
Peter Jackson has been given 56 hours of unreleased footage of Let It Be… From what he has said…it’s not depressing. It’s the guys having a good time playing.
Yes, I read that too
I’m a huge Beatles fan…I get tingly all over lol. What I would’nt give to see those 56 hours. They covered so many songs…
I would be in the Beatleholics room also down the hall to the left.
LMAO…tingly all over
