Colgando en tus manos (2008) – Carlos Baute

When I arrived in Colombia this was the Latina hit on the airwaves and I couldn’t help but like it. The video below is excellent and the song as catchy to the ear as they come. It is produced and performed by Venezuelan pop singer-songwriter Carlos Baute and featuring Spanish singer Marta Sánchez.

This is the signature song of Baute and his most successful not to mention for Marta Sánchez. The song immediately received airplay, mainly in the country of Spain, where it began 2009 at and stayed at the top for a total 29 weeks, setting the record for the most weeks at in Spain. It’s a great song and I included a English version below the original video. They have exceptional chemistry!

Perhaps it was not a coincidence you find me with you

perhaps it was destiny

I want to sleep on your chest

And after wake from your kisses.

At least Baute doesn’t beat around the bush. You must watch the original video below. It’s the bee’s-knees as far as cliche music videos are concerned. According to wikipedia it is ranked as one of the most viewed Spanish-language music videos of all time. I think it might be the most commercially contrived song in my library, but it reminds me of much better times here in Colombia.

  1. I like “commercially contrived”! Love the way it builds up, and the Latin rhythm is addictive as always.

    • Hola Bruce, I’m sorry I haven’t responded before now. Crazy weekend!
I didn’t know you were a fan of Latin Rhythm? I would count this more as Pop and ballad, but I’m no expert.

      • I don’t know much about it either, but I could pick a lot of music as coming from South America. Maybe it’s the Spanish!!

      • There is a lot of Pop music coming Central America and Spain as well, butthis song has a fairly distinct sound which sets it apart from most. The female singer is from Spain.
I hope life is treating you well in the Shire. 😊👍

      • I’m ok thanks Matthew and trust you are ok yourself. I have all sorts of people pulling me this way and that at present. I just want everyone to go away and the rain to stop so I can get out and continue my cow poo collecting from the paddocks for the garden!

      • I’ll admit it has been tough going here with the protests and violence not to mention the strict quarantines. I’m very concerned about Colombia’s short to medium term future. The economy is taking a nose dive and extreme poverty levels at at pre 2002 levels. The lockdown’s have all but ruined the great societal advancement and economic progression that occurred since then. Apart from all this, I am well and so are my children. But I don’t know if we can stay here.
It appears you are the popular one! We are also getting a lot of rain because it’s the wet season here. I hope you can collect that cow dung in no time flat. Cheers.
