She’s waiting for me
When I get home from work
Oh, but things just ain’t the same
She turns out the lights
And cries in the dark
And she won’t answer when I call her name
On the stairs I smoke a
Cigarette alone
Mexican kids are shooting
Fireworks below
And hey, baby, it’s the Fourth of July
Hey, baby, it’s the Fourth of July
Thanks for the link Matt. I like the rootsy sound of it.
Cheers buddy. Thanks for highlighting this song.
The more I hear it, the more I like it. It’s a breezy song and the lady’s back-up vocals are excellent. I will look for the other I like from them… Well I believe it’s them with the same supported vocals, but the version I like is recorded live.
I found it – Burning House of Love at ‘Farm Aid’. It really does it for me and once again the supporting singer’s vocals are great. Imperfect, but great.
Oh man… sometimes imperfect makes it great
I love this live recording. It’s so imperfectly perfect.
That’s the thing, you could do this song with perfect vocals ok. But as it sounds out of tune ‘live’ seems to work. I love it.
I like how the vocals between the two of this live recording is at times out of tune, but it just seems to work, at least for me.
